The number of deaths is increasing in India every month in lightning. This year, hundreds of people have been killed in lightning in different places of India. And so the government of India has set up an expert team to know the cause of the thunderstorm.
Speaking on the occasion, Science and Technology Minister Harshvardhana said in the Lok Sabha that the Department of Geology of the Department of Meteorology, Tropical Meteorology and Medium Range for Weather 4 Casting has formed an expert group. The expert team has been entrusted with the responsibility of innovating different technologies for forecasting and observation of lightning. The expert team has been asked to complete the work in March next year.
Harsavardhana said, for a long time the weather department and other institutions are conducting research on lightning. However, much less research has been done about thunderstorm compared to the study of rainfall and climate change. But thunderstorms have become regular events. Especially in the case of thunderstorm before rainy season. With it rain, windstorm, lightning and hailstorms. As a result of this, common people also have a huge impact on issues such as air services, agriculture, transportation, electricity supply.
According to Indian government data, about 2000 people have died in lightning every year since 2005. In June 2016, 93 people died. According to experts, death rate in India is much higher in lightning. There is no proper forecast for this. However, a group of experts believe that people in India are more likely to suffer from lightning because they work more in the field.
